BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Emergency. The film is based on the story of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and has found itself at the centre of a diplomatic impasse. As per the latest updates, the film release has been banned in Bangladesh.

Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency release BANNED in Bangladesh

According to India Today sources, Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency has been banned from release in Bangladesh amid strained ties between both countries. The source revealed, “The decision to halt the screening of Emergency in Bangladesh is tied to the current strained relations between India and Bangladesh. The ban is less about the content of the film and more about the ongoing political dynamics between the two nations.”

Emergency, which is scheduled to open in theaters throughout India in three days, has generated a lot of excitement due to its daring portrayal of a crucial period in Indian history. Nonetheless, the film’s prohibition in Bangladesh underscores a developing pattern in which political context increasingly shapes cross-cultural interactions.

Following Sheikh Hasina’s overthrow amid widespread anti-government demonstrations and subsequent attacks on Hindus in the Muslim-majority nation, relations between India and Bangladesh worsened last year. Despite pressure from Muhammad Yunus’s interim government, New Delhi has renewed Hasina’s visa, and Dhaka is also requesting her extradition from India, where she fled following her overthrow in August.

Earlier, even films like Pushpa 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 have also been prohibited from release in the neighbouring country.

Emergency also stars Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade and late Satish Kaushik, is directed by Kangana herself. Emergency is set for release on January 17.
